The Village Folk

The Village Folk play music which focuses on the traditions of the British Isles, with occasional sallies across the Atlantic and into the realms of pop. Our repertoire spans a range of folk styles from unaccompanied harmony singing to dance tunes, but the emphasis is always on audience participation.

We have played at many varied venues which include private functions and parties to folk concerts and music festivals; no occasion is too small (or too large!).

All the band’s members live in villages (hence the name) in the south-east Somerset area and we are all involved in local music other than in the band. Roger, Nick and Trevor sing with Baltonsborough-based choir for men, the Brue Boys. Trevor also sings with the chamber choir, Spectra Musica, and along with Colin and Micky he is part of the Four Foot Four, another folk band specialising in Ceilidh music.

Many of the band's performances are for the benefit of local charities and we have recorded a mini CD to support STAR (Somerset Trust for Arts and Recreation).
